UE4 Multiplayer - 2021

To learn about Networking Features in Unreal Engine, I created a small third person shooter project. Everything was setup from scratch by me. Thanks to the “Advanced Sessions Plugin” for Unreal Engine, setting up working multiplayer over Steam was relatively simple.
The project went through multiple iterations, with each build being tested consistently.
It served as a great Learning Experience about Networking, 3Cs, Shooting Mechanics & Replication.

Video Tutorials - 2008-2021

I’ve always enjoyed teaching others to help them succeed with their goals.
Over the years I’ve built up a backlog of video tutorials, teaching about the Blender Game Engine and Unreal Engine.
Making these videos I have to find a fine balance between entertainment and educational content, to make it more fun to learn.

Timmy's Lost Toys - 2021

Timmy has had quite a field day on a remote island- but sadly it’s time to go home.
Created in 48 hours for the Global Game Jam 2021.
 
A fun project allowing me to focus on Level Design, Scripting and quickly prototyping and polishing mechanics.

A UT map focused on open combat spaces and tight corridors set in an old ruin.

This was a University Assignment with a focus on Competitive Multiplayer Level Design, Metric Gathering, Architecture & Block-out working with an existing IP (Unreal Tournament)

Grim Junior - 2019

Grim Junior is a 2.5D adventure with puzzle and platforming elements, where you play as little Grim, struggling on his first day at work. Armed with only a vacuum cleaner, the player needs to find and catch fresh souls that are hiding around the graveyard and bring them to the afterlife.

Adventure Game Prototype - 2019

Experiments with various Marketplace assets.
First time creating a Third Person Character Controller from Scratch in UE4.
I also created a weapon pickup & drop system, a vehicle & added a climbing system as well as Grenades.
This project was a great exercise in quickly prototyping mechanics and level ideas.
Eventually I had planned to create a Stranger Things inspired Level using the prototype.

The Owl and the Astronaut (Epic Mega Jam) - 2018

Davey is an ordinary man, just trying to get into his own study. He’s written a letter and he needs to send it. What a shame today is the day he’s gone entirely mad.
Game Jam project created in 1 week for the Epic Mega Jam.

Elon's Super Serious Escape Plan - 2017

A satirical game about Elon Musks escape from Laser Unicorns at Natha.
Game Jam project created in 1 week with the Blender Game Engine.

The Long Way Home - 2016

A story about a man with Alzheimer’s trying to reclaim memories about his life.
Game Jam project created in 1 week with the Blender Game Engine.

Won the Blender Game Making Competition.

Swapper (Puzzle Game Concept) - 2016

Concept for a Puzzle Game with a teleport mechanic. An experiment in puzzle design.
Created in the Blender Game Engine.

This project taught me a lot about iterative level & puzzle design, going through multiple revisions until I was happy with the final result.
This was one of the first times I used whitebox geometry to block out a space, instead of trying to build it to it’s final quality right away.

Light Knight - 2015

A roguelike fighting game in a procedurally generated dungeon.
Game Jam project created in 2 weeks with the Blender Game Engine.

Second Place in the Blender Game Making Competition.

Silent Hill Corridor - 2015

A short Horror Game inspired by the PT. Silent Hill Demo.
Created in the Blender Game Engine.
I made all the Art Assets myself with a bigger focus on Texturing and Lighting to try to create a good looking result.

It was fun to create a small sequence of events and script out the level for a short, 5 minute long experience.

Fireman - 2015

A game about a fireman trying to save as many civilians as possible in a burning building.
Game Jam project created in 1 week with the Blender Game Engine.
 
Won the Blender Game Making Competition.

The Island (Survival game) - 2015

A survival game prototype created in the Blender Game Engine. This turned into a pretty big project with a bunch of ideas I wanted to explore. Created an Inventory System, Crafting System, Animal AI & Building System.

Toms Adventure (Adventure game) - 2014

A small adventure game I wanted to create with my Cousin in the Blender Game Engine. I programmed a Dialogue System, Combat System and various other features for this project.
This was one of the first times I focused on the 3Cs trying to create a character that is fun to play.

STARS (Puzzle game) - 2014

A puzzle platformer game created in the Blender Game Engine. This game was heavily inspired by Portal. It features a “Swarm” mechanic, where the player can spawn and control “Stars” to manipulate the level. A 4 month project which has been completed and published to Gamejolt.

3rd Place at the German Multimedia Awards (Multimediapreis)

Monochrome (Puzzle game) - 2014

A stylized platformer / puzzle game created in the Blender Game Engine. This was my first “published” project and so I learned a lot about sharing my work online.
